Christine West is excited to be a part of the unique creative community that makes Providence special and is a firm believer in environmentally and economically sustainable urban neighborhoods.
After several years working as an architect in the Washington, DC area, Christine chose to return to graduate school to study how the practice of architecture could foster innovation, particularly in green building. She and her husband John then decided to move to Providence because of its vibrant community and sense of place.
Christine is Chair of the Providence City Plan Commission, and is a member of the Providence Building Board of Review. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Providence Revolving Fund, is a former trustee of the Providence Preservation Society, and was the architect member of the Downcity Design Review Committee.
Christine is a Past President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and is a founding board member of Pecha Kucha Providence. She presented at the inaugural TEDxProvidence event in 2012 and was the class speaker for the Zeta II Leadership RI class. She has also served on the Rhode Island Distributed Generation Contracts Board. At the national level, she serves as a team chair and AIA representative on visiting NAAB accreditation teams for professional schools of architecture.
